[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; height: 600px; border-left: 10px solid #9E3C33;] Welcome to MUDBLOODS & MURMURS! JACKSON FRANK CARVER [/style] [style=font-family:times; font-size:10; letter-spacing: 6px; line-height: 2px color:#9E3C33; text-transform:uppercase; font-style: italic; ] you're a wizard, harry CHARACTER FULL NAME: Jackson Frank Carver NICKNAMES: Jack, Jack Jack… Booger Breath, Nancy Boy, Book Worm (or whatever other 'clever' insult his brother can think of) DATE OF BIRTH: October 29 AGE: Seventeen (Eighteen very soon) GENDER: Male SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight OCCUPATION: Student BLOODSTATUS: Half-Blood FINANCIAL STATUS: Middle Class YEAR: Seventh HOUSE: Ravenclaw WAND: 13" Reed w/ Dragon Heartstring (he got it from Ollivander's Hogsmeade branch) ALLEGIANCE: The ministry, he supposes. CANON: Nope. Tell Us a little about how you look HEIGHT: 6'1" / 1.85m WEIGHT: 170lbs / 77.11kg HAIR COLOR: Black EYE COLOR: Blue DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Eternally serious eyes. FACE CLAIM: Sean O'pry ATTIRE: Oh, if only pajamas were in style. If Jack could roll out of bed in the morning and be good to go, he would be a happy guy. Fortunately for all of the seventh year and the first years greedily trying to cram as much of the Hogwarts feasts into their bellies, Jack does have a shred of dignity (even if he hates wasting time to get ready). Usually he dresses in jeans and a t-shirt, but he's not too fussy about having to step it up a notch (anymore). Granted, he would prefer if someone just threw what they expected him to wear at him, but that irritatingly never happens. Jack likes to consider himself one of the 'cool' Ravenclaws. That's right, they have them. No, he's probably not, but he likes to think he breaks the image of 'nerd'. His vision is perfect, thank you very much, and he's got 'casual' down pat. He slouches, he lounges, he puts his feet on tables, he sprawls, he crawls, he dances in a circle when Ravenclaw wins quidditch… okay, so not a lot makes this guy stand out physically, but amongst suspenders and pocket-protectors, average is ahead of the curve. and then a little about yourself LIKES: 1. Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes -- one word: Geniuses. Maybe they got into trouble, but anyone who could conceive ideas like theirs and execute them, are firing on more than four cylinders. 2. Making faces at George -- he gets a kick out of making him break his dead pan expression. His goal is still to make him crack up in the middle of class; he's got one last year to succeed. 3. Traveling -- it's the one thing that his dad managed to provide with utmost success. 4. Writing -- if he's no good at fiction, he hopes to become a journalist, which wouldn't be so bad if it was based in travel. 5. Figuring people out -- he likes to know what makes people tick, how similar people can seem different because of different circumstance, and what makes people do what they do in general. 6. Photography -- but he kind of likes the idea of photography better than actually developing anything. 7. Hogwarts feasts -- more food than a teenage guy can hope to eat? Yeah, he's on-board. He'll readily admit, above even his friends, that this is what he'll miss most about Hogwarts. 8. Maturity -- though he may play the part of a jokester, he likes a person who knows when the kidding stops and they can be serious together. It's probably why he's drawn to more serious people that he can weasel the humor out of, rather than the other way around. DISLIKES: 1. Study-Groups -- one might think this was jam in doughnuts, a Ravenclaw's idea of par-tay! Alas, no. Jack is studious, gets his work done ahead of time, and then enjoys life. He likes to study alone so that he doesn't get distracted and then any leisure books he happens to read are NOT Hogwarts, A History. 2. Girls who can't fend for themselves -- not that he plans on ignoring them, but he doesn't like when a girl has to cling to him and relies on him for protection or plan of action. 3. Attention-Whores -- he does a fair bit of clowning around, but he does it to genuinely make someone laugh… not just to have attention. 4. "Arrrtists" -- i.e. people who say they like something offbeat just for the sake of seeming offbeat themselves, all the while sneering down on mainstream stuff. 5. His brother -- though not for his blame of Nick. Really, he loves his brother... he just doesn't know what to do with his darker personality. He can be a bit worrisome. 6. Selfishness -- people who have no problem talking about themselves and then don't consider extending an attentive ear to anyone else. 7. Being intellectual -- capable of a great deal of logic and emotion, he actually hates that he chooses logic most of the time. 8. When people are portrayed or understood as black and white -- humans are far too complex to be more than shades of gray. (No... not the book.) 9. Insomnia -- ever a stressed out guy, he gets so worked up in his head that he can't sleep, no matter how tired he is, he won't let himself relax. BOGGART: His mother. ERISED: OVERALL PERSONALITY: To the untrained eye, Jack is a pretty easy going, friendly guy who cracks his share of jokes and tries to find the good in all situations. Aside from thinking his own cornball jokes are funny, this facade is an utter truth and bitter lie. Underneath, Jack is uptight and irritable. He thinks the worst before his counterpart can utter a diluted version, and he knows his only hope of being a decent individual is to deny himself. He forces positivity only to keep from being sucked in to the seeded darkness of his being. He fears giving in, despite how delicious it can feel in the moments he stealthily does so, because he is not sure who it would make him. He tries to remember that he is every bit the person he tries to be, as he thinks lurks within. At least, that's what he convinces himself of. But he cannot take full joy out of knowing he is a good friend, and a caring individual, because he is far too guarded to let himself care. He must deny others, before they deny him. And it torments him to take pleasure out of how little distinguishes his true vulnerability from guiding others to open up to him. He thrives on the vulnerability of others, convincing himself that being supportive and theraputic to them makes the trade mutually beneficial. He acts like logic drives him, but he is pure emotion. The more he feels, the more he refuses. Finding no one that he can trust with his whole self, he pieces his vulnerabilities out, letting each person know a part of him but not all. He does believe in self-improvement, and it angers him when people give in so easily to their darker side, knowing in the end that it's a choice people make… if he has to be responsible enough to make it, so should others. But his duality is not void of contribution. What people don't know, can't hurt them. It has happened, but it's usually rare that Jack resorts to using learned weaknesses against a person… and when he does, he deems they have it coming for being mean to someone else. Generally, a person can come and go in his life, having left the better by meeting him… regardless of what he got out of the relationship. What that is, he tends to keep to himself. Until there is a person he can feel completely at ease with revealing the crevices cracking through him, he can only hope to appease his demons enough so they stay quiet. On the flip side, Jack takes genuine joy out of random acts of kindness. He likes making people feel good, no matter how many times getting overlooked makes him feel bitter. He is self-sacrificing, in a twisted attempt to martyr himself (even if he only lets himself know it), so in the end it is beneficial to people without consequence. He is not okay with receiving nothing in return, but the lack of it is his own doing. He asks for nothing. Justification of the torment is more fulfilling than someone pretending to care for five seconds. And so he sets himself up to fall at the mercy of the talented few who can manipulate him. And for them, he would do anything, even engage his darker self. history your family and such PARENTS: Hendrick Maynard Carver (39; Ex-Ravenclaw; Alchemy Professor) & Adrienne Elenore Deniau (42; Ex-Beauxbatons; who knows) SIBLINGS: Nicholas Ewan Carver (16; Slytherin; Future Boot-Licker) PETS: Lillipution (aka Lip), an elf owl. He's… really not good at carrying anything (but notes to girls, maybe) and Jack's not sure if his dad gave Lip to him as a joke or not, because he's so small. Still, he acts kind of goofy and poops on George's bed, so it amuses him. OVERALL HISTORY: Henry was only 21 when he and Adrienne had Jack. At the time he was a self-motivated alchemist and potioneer. He worked long hours in, what Jack jokingly refers to, his studio and he laboriously tried to find new brews to aid magical creatures live a safer, more natural life. If he did not spend so much of his time pursing his goals, he might be considered gifted; his wife certainly thought he was going places. But that place was Hogwarts. Twenty-two months after Jack was born, his younger brother Nick came along. This put strains on the family budget, and Henry had to find more stable work. Granted, his position at Hogwarts is on a fluctuating basis (depending on the demand for Alchemy that year), it supplemented the family's income. Displeased by her husband's lackluster choice, Adrienne left back to France and abandoned her children when Jack was three. He does remember her, but kind of blames Nick for her leaving… well, being born really, though rationale tells him that she would probably have tired of Henry's dedication to grueling work that will likely only become beneficial for whoever continues his research. So Jack grew up, never remembering a time without his brother and with a father who couldn't be bothered (or probably didn't think) to fill the void. Even if his mother had stayed, Jack would probably have abandonment issues, the way his dad works. Even being at the school with him, it feels like he's away at boarding school. Aside from one time that he smiled on an aside during class when Jack answered, one might not even know he's his son. Still, it is really not his father who was responsible for making Jack feel insufficient. He was less than pleased when his mother showed up out of a wardrobe during Lupin's brilliant boggart idea, his fourth year. He was mortified and explained it off later as an irrational vampire fear he got when he was nearly attacked in Romania as a child. Veal, anyone? Of course, this was a lie… though he did meet a vampire in Romania when he was 8… it was disappointing. There were many places that Jack's dad took he and his brother on his years off, searching the far ends of the earth to access different approaches to magic and unknown discoveries. He got quite a varied upbringing, and being cultured is one of the things he prides himself on. He is very thankful that his dad instilled a love of travel in him (although his dad did very little tourist appreciation). He was disappointed to find this dwindled as he and Nick entered Hogwarts, especially when he became old enough to watch his younger brother. Who, he claims, turned into a raving lunatic when he was sorted into Slytherin and besotted with the power display of many future death eaters. Yes, he is aware that their mother's abandonment was not easy on either of them (certainly, he has his own hangups about even seeing her again), but Jack doesn't see why he gets to be a little purity fanatic git while he has to act like a grown-up. Needless-to-say, Jack is not particularly easy on his brother. And he has good reason, the loud-mouthed, self-proclaimed death eater youth is all a lot of big, albeit still dangerous, talk. He clarifies that they are not purebloods, as both a maternal and a paternal grandparent were muggle-born. He is not sure where this lust for purity comes from, since their father is not at all associated with the dark lord, and hopes that it's an extreme case of teenage rebellion. Jack, on the other hand, did not have the opportunity to be a rebel. Though, befriending the son of a death eater (unknowingly) might make him seem like more of one, Jack's only disciplinary problem has been smoking. He claims Nick should light up and maybe drown a bit of that anger in nicotine, too. As tensions have risen at Hogwarts, and praying that his brother will learn to keep his big mouth shut, Jack is actually thankful that his dad is a teacher at the school. Having a parent around provides a sense of security a lot of his peers wouldn't admit to finding comfort in. Though he is critical, Jack has always cared about his family, and Hogwarts feels every bit as much as home having them available. His school career has brought good marks, but has otherwise been unremarkable. He thought the TriWizard tournament was the coolest thing ever to have witnessed, but other than that he has not felt more than the daunting air of war. He's just wise enough to know you can't believe everything you read, just experienced enough to know political issues are often heavily under wraps, and just young enough to be completely lost between innocent naivety and skilled usefulness. He doesn't like fearing for people when there's nothing he can do, and he hopes that, like many wars, this one won't show up on his front doorstep. now for the person behind the character ALIAS: Shades AGE: 26 EXPERIENCE: 9 yrs.
