[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; height: 600px; border-left: 10px solid #9E3C33;] Welcome to MUDBLOODS & MURMURS! AUDRIC RHYS DEVLIN [/style] [style=font-family:times; font-size:10; letter-spacing: 6px; line-height: 2px color:#9E3C33; text-transform:uppercase; font-style: italic; ] you're a wizard, harry CHARACTER FULL NAME: Audric Rhys Devlin NICKNAMES: Yes, but nothing endearing. DATE OF BIRTH: January 9th AGE: 27 GENDER: Male SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight OCCUPATION: Full-time Death Eater BLOODSTATUS: Pureblood >.> FINANCIAL STATUS: Wealthy enough to live the rest of his life out, at least. (That's all that's important, right?) YEAR: 1980-1987 HOUSE: Durmstrang Alumni WAND: 11" Yew w/ Dragon Heartstring ALLEGIANCE: Dark Lord CANON: No Tell Us a little about how you look HEIGHT: 6'2" WEIGHT: 185lbs HAIR COLOR: Dirty Blonde EYE COLOR: Blue DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: He has foreboding eyes that are often sunken within dark circles. The way he handles people, especially when he is domineering, is sensual (understandable because he gets a high off of hurting people). Because of this, and that he is willing to humiliate women and men alike, he can come off as bisexual. But the pleasure he derives from this is not the same kind of lust. He is devoted to his wife, and has every reason to be. FACE CLAIM: Hayden Christiansen ATTIRE: Whether he dress up or down, it is safe to surmise that he always has a reason, or someone he is trying to make an impression upon. If it is casual dress day, he is dressed the opposite. His go-to wardrobe is a step above professional. It's ridiculously dressy. Usually this is slacks, shirt, tie, the works. His jacket can vary though; some are longer and have a more obvious wizard flare. Robes are reserved for ceremony, and sometimes he will dress far down if he is trying to 'connect' to someone. But you can be sure of one thing… this man will wear whatever his wife tells him to, when she decides to. It's not really whipped if he knows it's going to work out for him in the end. and then a little about yourself LIKES: 1. Physical power -- he loves the feel of someone's body at his will. Honestly, magic is too 'hands-off' for him. He's more likely to use it to initially disable someone stronger than him and then get up close and personal to torment/torture them. 2. His wife's voice -- his wife's sensuality in general, but she can seduce him with her voice alone. 3. The chase -- both when people are easily lured in and when he is being denied. 4. Fire -- he likes setting things ablaze and watching them burn. It's one of the few times he really feels at peace... or you know, hypnotized like a bug. 5. Voyeurism -- it's his right, but he likes to be stealthy in watching his wife undress. Sometimes he gets the distinct impression that she's taunting him. 6. When someone expresses interest in his wife -- so long as they don't touch her, he quite enjoys having new people to fantasize about dismembering in front of her. 7. Messing with people -- unfortunately his sense of humor is far darker than others. 8. When someone needs him -- he enjoys when people get attached to him. DISLIKES: 1. Subservience -- all these death eaters bowing down to the dark lord… he's a fool if he really thinks they are loyal to him and wouldn't overthrow him for their own power, if they could. (He might be projecting a little bit). However, he also respects the dark lord for this, not because he wants to ride on his coattails. 2. That his wife hyphenated her last name -- in fact, he refuses to accept it and never writes her name like she does. 3. Being made a fool of -- oh, he won't kill the perpetrator… that would be too easy. It's better to feed them their pet dog or make them sleep with their own sister, something eternally scaring like that. 4. Anyone displeasing his wife -- she gets a distinctive annoyed look, and by now she knows it's a look she better only get if she wants him to do something, because he will obsessively make sure that person pays for it. He's fair though, it's only in measure to how peeved off she gets. 5. Being manipulated -- he actually doesn't think it's possible. (Authors Note: some of us know better.) And he is especially angry if someone implies that his wife can. They better have something against her, because the likelihood is high that he'll take it out on her. 6. Being called abusive -- to him, abusive is a brutish act and he considers what he does an art form. He is far more subtle and controlled than angry abusers are. Half of the technique isn't even in inflicting pain at all, it's the mental torment that does the most damage. Physical pain just shuts a mind down. 7. Someone speaking down to him -- obviously, no one is in the position to be doing that to him. 8. Others encroaching on his space -- when he has a target or goal in sight, he doesn't like when people tamper with his approach. BOGGART: His wife. (He doesn't really get it. He's totally got that chick under control.) ERISED: A unicorn. (He… doesn't really get that one either. He can tell you, that damned mirror is broken.) OVERALL PERSONALITY: So, by now you've probably gathered that this boy is one sick puppy and very obsessed with his wife. However, to him obsession is for lesser men. Of which he holds he and his wife far above. The number one reason he distrusts Voldemort is because he believes it's not really about purity for him either. It's about being a god among men--without competition. And so it is that much of his tormenting feels like a game. Especially between he and his wife. He takes amusement out of trying to scare her, particularly because it's so hard when the woman knows at the end of the day he holds her above all others. Both have a knack for underestimating each other and overestimating themselves, but she definitely has the upper hand because Audric cannot feel scorned. Even when people deny him he is patient and dedicated to his goal. He won't cross the line until it's time. He knows, to get one's way, the road is never a straight path… and of course a victim is going to try and put obstacles in your way! He has an unnerving understanding for how people work, while being such a pieces of work himself. But he can easily detach himself from this, because of course he feels superior to them. Unfortunately, Audric does not come across as your straight-forward, socially inept psychopath. He is careful and disciplined. He believes in doing any job right, no matter how many times it takes. Knowing how to wait until the right moment to strike, Audric will put in the necessary amount of time to seduce someone into a lull before acting on his true desires. He is an eloquent speaker and he speaks like honey oozing down silk. He very rarely raises his voice, but that doesn't mean he can't be fazed. He really can be and is extremely moody. He can be witty one second and grumpy the next. He gets particularly tweaked when he can't faze his wife though. No person could torment him more than his wife, and he's a glutton for it. The ever present struggle keeps him from turning his violence towards innocents. He doesn't particularly care that he would, but she has inadvertently kept him alive this long. She gives him just enough denial to keep him coming for more, while satisfying him enough that his pessimism isn't pushed too far. If he believes someone has ulterior motives, there is no changing his mind. He always assumes a person is out to get something or think they're better than him, ironically. He makes it his personal business not only to deny them this, but to stomp them down to their rightful place at the same time. He is rarely satisfied with the gravity of an individual's punishment and wants more. Audric does not take accountability for who he is. He knows he was made this way. He often thinks about the different, better ways he could have killed his father. The only distraction is his marriage. He has made his wife his life. She pays for it, but he also shows her far more respect than he does anyone else. If you're not family, you're an enemy. Audric will even go so far as trying to fuck with fellow death eaters (even if that means playing devil's advocate). He loves to get under people's skin, loves to provoke them, loves to find out how far he has to go… and when he can get his wife to do it with him, it's like being on a first date. Sometimes he enjoys seeing other people submerge into their darker side more than indulging his own. Manipulation is like a drug to him. history your family and such PARENTS: Ariston Devlin (56; deceased @45) & Anke Devlin (48) SPOUSE: Selene Imogen SIBLINGS: Audrey Claire Devlin (17; Slytherin) PETS: Owls are not pets. They're service animals… like goblins... or mudbloods. OVERALL HISTORY: Audric's conception starts with his father's assignment through the Ministry of Magic's Foreign Affairs and Sports Department. Though coming from money at least four generations old, Ariston Devlin worked mostly as a means of activity. In the year he met Anke, he was sent just outside of Holland to aid and oversee aspects of constructing and concealing that year's Quidditch World Cup stadium. He was there for several months beforehand and began an affair with (who he thought) was a local pureblood. It was probably never his intention to see it continue once he returned to Britain, but Audric was born in January of the following year and Anke was brought overseas with her newborn son. Because marriage was the proper thing to do, and Ariston would be damned if he didn't make sure a decedent of his bloodline was brought up wrong. Audric was a year old when when the first wizarding war broke out. It is not much of a surprise that his father became an avid supporter of Voldemort. These early developing years were filled with constant tension, anger, and aggression. A basis for this supposed 'proper' upbringing he was to receive. And receive it he did. Ariston could be said to have been joyed to have a boy who could be raised and groomed from the very start to follow the Dark Lord, untainted by what they hoped would be the 'old ways'. And so Aurdric was broken of mind and spirit to become a potential soldier of purity. But after early years of abuse, recitation, and performance, Ariston learned that one of Anke's grandparents had been a muggleborn. Furious with her for tainting his bloodline, Ariston settled to simply abusive. Obviously, Audric (about six at the time) and Anke were forbidden from revealing their tainted blood, as this would have reflected badly on him. He might have left the family, if he was not already an absentee father. It was the only time Audric experienced reprieve from physical harm, and it allowed him the time to start resenting Ariston. Probably not for the better. At least a mindless soldier didn't have to think to become a monster instead. Five more years passed and Ariston begrudgingly took part in Audric's life for appearance's sake. He would have been better off ignored, as would his mother have been. Having once seen more than a boy should, Audric suspects the birth of his sister was not exactly the intention Ariston had whichever night Audrey was forcefully conceived. She was born the year before Audric was due to start formal training. He imagines that Ariston was only too pleased to finally ship him off to school. Hogwarts would probably have been far enough, but Ariston knew there was levels of service to the dark lord for all levels of purity. An able body, as the war continued and casualties were many, was at least good to take a hit, after all. So Audric was sent back overseas to attend Durmstrang. In his second year, the war ended, but Ariston could not be bothered to switch Audric to another school. He was too busy claiming he had been under the Imperious Curse… from the very start of the war. After so many years of being pushed, having pride shoved down his throat, Audric's fear of his father became shame and disgust. Now that Audric had developed a personality for himself, he considered his father weak and convinced himself that he was every bit as pure as his father claimed to be. It did not hold much weight in the years following the war, but his attendance at boarding school guarded him from most of what went on outside its walls. Though Audric made alliances at Durmstrang, they have all been forgotten. He remembers one guy as the one who gouged a knarl with its own quills, but that's only because Audric proceeded to do so to the student. For he is not satisfied with being elite. Another's bloodline really means little to him, because he would rather have power over everyone. He's so unbiased in that way. That lowly creatures are hardly worth his effort is one of his few redeeming qualities. It was certainly not a lesson he was teaching the fellow student. There were only a few times that Audric returned home during his years abroad. His sister (eight by the time he graduated) could have been anyone off the park sidewalk, and even his father looked more haggard than he ever remembered. There is a saying that time heals old wounds, and perhaps somewhere in Audric there should have formed the ability to feel pity, but neither rang true. The flame of his fury towards his kin had never flickered. Seeing him emotionally weakened and older only goaded his youthful stamina. But he was no fool, and he had waited years. So he waited two more months, biding his time to stage a gruesome murder by mountain giants. He only laments that he had to use magical means to pull it off, and could not lay his bare hands on his father's writhing body. Audric doesn't know if his mother actually bought the events of their tragic excursion, but he is not sure that she cares about her husband's fate any more than he cares if she knows he did it. Though no one asked him to do so, Audric became acting head of his family's estate. It was his rightful inheritance, after all. In contradiction to his father's abuse, he became insanely protective over his sister. When she started school, she came home every vacation and only the best is demanded of her. He is sure that she obeys him, even though his attention became greatly distracted when he met his wife at twenty-two. Never had he laid eyes on such a creature, and he felt sure possessing her was a stepping stone to proving his superiority. He still feels this way after four years of marriage. He's just a big romantic. While an outsider can easily tell that she might use and betray him as easily as she could care for him, she has been a blessing to mankind at large. Her subtle power struggle with him has kept his stronger desires satiated in trying to dominate her. And when the Dark Lord rose again, she encouraged his service to the best of his abilities while assuring him that he was on his own path. Whether this is what she believes and desires, or she's manipulating him to aid the Dark Lord even he doesn't know. Though he is too blinded to think her capable. He is young, however, and he as much as he resents working for another he also greatly admires the Dark Lord. "Ferris Bueller, you're my hero." Regardless of how little the Dark Lord probably thinks of him, Audric has convinced himself that he is a protege finally come to his mentor. Many tasks have been dealt out, some more crucial than others, but Audric's particular talents have been focused on convincing people to join ranks. Though he has only been tasked with the likely candidates, Audric has taken it upon himself to even try to lure others. After all, no one achieves what the Dark Lord has without setting personal challenges for themselves. now for the person behind the character ALIAS: Shades AGE: 26 EXPERIENCE: 9yrs.
